Galax & Oakland Elementary Students Share Holiday Kindness with TCRH Patients

December 30, 2025
Card, Merry Christmas 2025

This holiday season, Twin County Regional Healthcare is honored and deeply touched by an outpouring of kindness from the students at Galax Elementary School and Oakland Elementary School. With caring hearts and thoughtful words, students created more than 75 handmade cards and letters for patients spending the holidays in the hospital.

Each card carries a simple but powerful message of hope, comfort, and compassion. Many remind patients that they are not alone, that their community is thinking of them, and that healing thoughts are being sent their way. These heartfelt messages have been proudly posted throughout the hospital and are being delivered directly to patients in their rooms.

“This holiday season, my heart is truly touched by the kindness shown by these amazing young students. Their thoughtful gestures remind us of what truly matters—care, compassion, and the strength of our community. During this special time of year, their generosity brings comfort and joy to our patients and inspires all of us to keep spreading kindness.” said, Chief Nursing Officer, Charleen Ryan RN, MA, MFT.

Patients and staff alike have been moved by the colorful drawings, encouraging words, and genuine care shown in every card. For many patients, these messages have brought smiles, comfort, and reassurance during a time that can feel lonely or difficult.

To the students of Galax and Oakland Elementary Schools: thank you. Your kindness has made a meaningful difference, and our patients are incredibly grateful for every single card. Your compassion shines brightly and shows just how special our community truly is.

Twin County Regional Healthcare is grateful to see our community come together in such a beautiful way. Acts like these remind us that healing extends beyond medicine—it lives in kindness, connection, and the caring hearts of our neighbors.
