Out-Patient Department

The outpatient department is open Monday through Friday. Patients are admitted through this department for minor surgery such as hernia repairs, gallbladder surgery, arthroscopic surgery, and breast surgery. The outpatient department may infuse IV antibiotics and blood products as ordered by your primary physician. These infusions will be approved and managed by our in house hospitalist while you are here.

Endoscopy Department

The endoscopy department operates from 7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday with on-call personnel available 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. A variety of disorders are treated here: ulcers, hiatal hernia, reflux syndrome, and other upper GI diseases. We also treat rectal bleeding, hemorrhoids, colon polyps, diverticulitis, and any lower intestinal disease. Additionally, care is provided to patients with GI disorders and/or foreign bodies.

Most endoscopic procedures are done on an outpatient basis and patients are able to complete their recovery in the comfort of their own home.

Operating Room

The operating room is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Cases are scheduled during the day and call teams cover the department after hours. A registered nurse is always assigned as the circulating nurse.

Post-Anesthesia Care Unit

The recovery room operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Care is provided to all age groups including infants, children, adolescents, young adults, middle-aged adults, and geriatrics. The unit is responsible for the immediate care of all patients following surgery. The unit is staffed by registered nurses.

Twin County Surgery is a department of Twin County Regional Hospital. When you see a physician or receive services in a provider-based clinic, you are technically being treated in an outpatient department of the hospital rather than the physician’s office. Please refer to “Understanding your Healthcare Costs” to learn how your bill may be affected when seen by a provider in a provider-based clinic.
