Physical Therapy
Through therapeutic exercise, manual therapy, gait training, pain relieving modalities and education, physical therapy treatment helps patients improve their functional mobility and return to their optimum performance levels.
Physical Therapy Credentials
Our physical therapists (PTs) are graduates of an accredited Physical Therapy Program of Master’s or Doctorate level. Licensed physical therapist assistants (PTAs) are graduates of an Associate of Applied Science PTA program at a community college. Both PTs and PTAs are licensed by the state of Virginia by taking a national board exam after graduation. PTAs carry out the majority of treatments after a PT has evaluated the patient and established a treatment plan for him or her.
Our physical therapists pride themselves on one-on-one, hands-on care for each individual and providing patients with:
- Stroke (CVA)
- Myofascial release
- Evaluations of physical performance
- Therapeutic exercise programs for progress in gaining strength and endurance safely
- Sports injury treatments
- Pain management
- Treatment of the spine/SI dysfunctions
- Gait disturbances
- Orthopedic treatment (pre-operative consults and post-operative treatment)
- Treatment for vestibular and balance deficits

We also have a certified McKenzie therapist, and a therapist certified in vestibular rehabilitation.
Occupational Therapy Programs
OT focuses on helping people of all ages to regain their independence and reach their maximum ability to function safely.
Credentials
Our occupational therapists (OTR/L) are graduates of an accredited Bachelor’s or Master’s level Occupational Therapy Program, have passed a national board exam and are licensed by the state of Virginia.
Our occupational therapists provide evaluation and treatment for patients of all ages for the following issues:
- Stroke (CVA)
- Safety in the home and workplace
- Arthritis, hand and upper extremity injuries and dysfunctions
- Limitations in activities of daily living, self care and work tasks
- Visual/perceptual and cognitive-related problems
- Handwriting, using Handwriting Without Tears
- Orthopedic and worker’s comp injuries
- Joint protection and energy conservation
- Adaptive equipment, specializing in custom-made splinting
- Certified hand therapist
Speech Therapy (Language)
Credentials
Our speech language pathologists are graduates of an accredited Speech Language Pathology Program at the Master’s level. They are licensed by the state of Virginia and certified nationally by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
Our speech language pathologists provide evaluation and treatment for patients of all ages for the following issues:
- Stroke (CVA)
- Articulation disorders
- Language disorders
- Stuttering
- Aphasia/Apraxia/Dysarthria
- Augmentative/alternative communication
- Cognitive communication disorders
- Voice disorders
- Swallowing disorders
- Deep pharyngeal neuromuscular stimulation
- Modified barium swallow studies (MBSS - modified barium swallow study)
- FEES (fiberoptic evaluation of swallow / alternative to MBSS)
