Twin County Regional Healthcare proudly participated in the 2025 Governor’s Summit on Rural Prosperity held October 28 - 29 in Hanover County, Virginia. Chief Executive Officer William Alley, MHA, BSN, RN, and Marketing Coordinator Christa Harrison represented the organization at the statewide event which featured Governor Glenn Youngkin as keynote speaker.

Hosted by the Virginia Rural Center, the Summit convened nearly 300 leaders from across 53 counties and 21 cities to discuss the future of rural Virginia. Governor Youngkin highlighted his administration’s commitment to rural economic development citing over 90 projects launched during his tenure which created nearly 10,000 jobs and attracted $4 billion in private investment.

Alley engaged with key policymakers and program leaders including Senator Emily Jordan, Delegate Scott Wyatt, and Delegate Hillary Pugh Kent, to explore collaborative solutions for rural healthcare. They also attended panel discussions led by Chandler Vaughan, Program Developer at the Virginia Rural Center, and Hamilton Lombard, Estimates Program Manager at UVA’s Weldon Cooper Center, focusing on data-driven strategies to address housing and healthcare access in underserved regions.

Panels throughout the day addressed workforce development, economic growth, and agricultural innovation, featuring insights from John Budesky, Hanover County Administrator; Jason El Koubi, President and CEO of the Virginia Economic Development Partnership; Secretary Juan Pablo Segura, Virginia Secretary of Commerce and Trade; and Scott Sink, President of the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation.

“We were honored to represent Twin County Regional Healthcare and Southwest Virginia at this impactful summit,” said CEO William Alley. “The connections we made and the conversations we had will help us better serve our community, and advocate for the needs of rural healthcare.”

The Summit underscored the importance of broadband expansion, workforce housing, and strategic partnerships in building a prosperous future for rural Virginia.
