Twin County Regional Healthcare Announces Roberts as the DAISY Award Recipient

Twin County Regional Healthcare is proud to announce that Meriden Roberts, RN, of the Intensive Care Unit, has been selected as the recipient of the prestigious DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses.

The DAISY Award, created by the not‑for‑profit DAISY Foundation in Glen Ellen, California, honors nurses who demonstrate exceptional compassion and clinical excellence. The award was founded in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who passed away in 1999 from complications of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP). Deeply touched by the extraordinary care Barnes received, his family established the DAISY Foundation to recognize the meaningful, often underacknowledged impact nurses have on patients and their loved ones.

Meriden Roberts was nominated by a patient traveling from outside their hometown. The patient described Roberts as someone who “had to be handpicked by God,” praising her for delivering not only outstanding clinical care but also deep emotional support. Roberts ensures that every patient feels welcomed, respected, and truly understood. She adapts her approach to meet the unique needs of each patient—whether outgoing, reserved, or anxious, making certain they feel seen and cared for as individuals.
